After nearly 34 years, Joseph Hillmann has decided to fully retire from Hillmann Consulting, LLC. Hillmann was founded on April 3, 1985 and Joe became a 50% partner a few short months later. Joe’s primary role was as our Technical Director, but he was very hands on, especially in the early years.

Chris Hillmann made a heartfelt reference to their partnership by calling Joe the “yin to his yang.” Nearly 10 years ago, Joe sold most of his interest in the company to Chris and relocated to New Orleans. He remained actively involved in the business as a Consulting Partner. He was also an integral part of our disaster response team. As a colleague and mentor, Joe is one of the most resourceful people you’ll ever meet. As a brother, Chris said Joe is kind and patient, and has a big heart. Joe always included Chris in family and neighborhood sports. But what struck Chris most was how Joe never treated him like the annoying little brother he knows he was back then.

Joe has always been an adventurous man. He’s traveled abroad on numerous occasions and always seemed to find something fun and exciting to try. Soon, he will be embarking on his next big adventure. He recently purchased a home on the Caribbean Island of Dominica where he will happily retire to. Although it is a bittersweet moment, we wish Joe Hillmann all the best on his next adventure in life.
