We have an immediate need for an Environmental Technician with Asbestos Consulting experience to join our Environmental Health & Safety | Building Sciences team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate should have experience in the environmental consulting field specifically with hazardous materials and industrial hygiene services including surveys/assessments of asbestos, lead, mold, and indoor air quality. Qualifications & Requirements:
- College Degree (BS, MS, MPH) in a Science-related field is required
- Well-spoken and excellent communication skills
- Ability to deal directly with clients in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office
- HAZWOPER and 10/30 Hour OSHA Construction Safety is desirable but not required
- CA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) or ability and willingness to obtain
- CA Lead Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician license or ability to obtain
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Eager and available to work flexible and extra hours
- Must be available for work during off-hour shifts on an emergency, as-needed basis
Job Responsibilities:
In this position, the successful candidate will conduct building related environmental, indoor air quality, and health & safety assessments, as well as assist with project design and monitor contractor activities during remediation activities. The position will focus on asbestos, lead, water intrusion, and indoor air quality projects.
Candidates should be energetic and interested in building science and systems as well as environmental health & safety concerns. Technicians will spend the majority of their time at project sites in their respective areas and occasionally throughout California. Technicians will also prepare reports and other project documents related to field operations. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
